Acknowledgments

The Album Academicum was initiated by the Executive Board of the University of Amsterdam and was published in 2007 on the occasion of the 375th anniversary of the Athenaeum Illustre and the University of Amsterdam.

The project was carried out under supervision of the former University Museum (now part of the Special Collections Department of the University Library), in co-operation with the Bureau Alumnirelaties (the office for alumni relations), the Universiteitsfonds (the university’s support fund), the Commissie Geschiedschrijving UvA (stimulates research on the history of the university), the Afdeling Documentaire Informatievoorziening (the university’s department of records and information services) and the University Library of Amsterdam. Since 2008 the Afdeling Documentaire Informatievoorziening is responsible for adding newly appointed professors.

The addition of all doctors and honorary doctors of the University of Amsterdam, carried out since 2008, is under supervision of the Special Collections Department in co-operation with the Beadle Office and the Doctorate Board.

In accordance with the Data Protection Act this database has been registered with the university’s records manager. Photographers and institutions holding copyrights for photographs in the Album Academicum are listed in the image database (image database) (in Dutch).
